There are three options for completing your master's degree without a thesis: a capstone course, a research project, or a portfolio. Each of the options are listed below in more detail. Be advised that if you're planning to later complete a doctoral degree, some doctoral admissions committees only consider applicants who have completed a master's thesis.

Option 1: Research Project

The structure of your research project is to be designed with your committee in such a way that it solves a problem by combining your academic research from all three areas of study. Each project is individualized and tailored to help you grow beyond the bounds of the classroom to meet your academic and professional goals.

Option 2: Portfolio Project

The portfolio project creates a portfolio of academic and professional work that could be used to summarize your interdisciplinary studies. Your committee will determine the grading rubric and how the portfolio is graded across your chosen academic disciplines.

Option 3: Capstone

The capstone option allows you to take a capstone course from your major area of study. Be advised that not all areas of study have capstone courses and some have stringent requirements such as minimum hours of study in the field.
